SL65 Review
The updated version of the SL55 has arrived, but
is the upgrade worth it?
Straight out of the box the similarities
are apparent, same format, slight remolding,
different colours. Although the SL55 was
cute, small, very pocketable, it was definitely
flawed. Essentially an overpriced phone with
little features sold alone on its size. The
SL65 is a little different, added essential
features including built in camera more memory
and a better quality screen. Strangely the
SL65 is lacking Bluetooth capability. |

Use
This
is not a difficult phone to use.
Navigation is easy with the integral
joystick at the top of the keypad.
This is complemented with to access
keys either side, enabling easy
menu navigation. Those familiar
with the SL55 will notice that
the menu is almost identical.
Graphical
menus are broken down into textual
descriptions and most are accessible
where they should be. The volume
can be adjusted on the side of
the phone very conveniently.
The interface is not flashy, its
not a graphical experience, in
fact its a little more somber.
All the same it does not take long
to get used to it.
Call quality is excellent, very
clear. The keys are a great improvement
of its predecessor, with a brushed
aluminum look and raised profiles
its easy to navigate and send messages.
Menu/Navigation
The
menu's are fairly uninspiring but
easy to follow. We would have expect
it to be clearer and more of a
user experience due to the screen
being up rated since the SL55,
however this doesn't really matter.

Screen shots....
Verdict
Pro's
+ Very small handset with clear
advantages over its predecessor
+ Good sized keys, well spaced.
+
Easy to use
+
Built in good quality camera
+ Stylish
Cons
- No Megapixel camera
- No Bluetooth
- No MP3 ringtones
- Only when you use the camera do you see how good the screen is
- Old navigation system could be more graphical
Our thoughts
There is no doubt that this is a clear improvement over the SL55. Our feeling
however is that it could have been a lot better. Niggles aside its difficult
not to like this handset
Our Ratings
Aesthetics
- 8/10
Usability -8/10
Value for Money -8/10
Desirability -8/10
Overall -8/10 - A great pocket phone that will turn heads everytime.
