Samsung E720 Review

The Samsung E720 is a neat update to the ageing E700 model and best of all, it has all of the features of the Samsung D500 & more too !

From the outside, the E720 is a good-sized handset - neither too big nor too small & the weight is just 80g. Looking at the 'face' of the phone, you have an adequately sized external display, along with a centrally mounted 1.3 mega-pixel camera. Below the display are 3 keys for the MP3 player. As with the old E700 model, the E720 is finished in a two-tone colouring - steel grey with a dark blue insert down the centre and dark blue battery cover.

Internally, the E720 has a medium-sized display for a clamshell type phone, although there are handsets out there that dwarf the E720. The keypad design though is perfect. Well spaced keys, with a nice chrome-effect running between them. There is a central 5-way navigation key with a one-touch internet access button.

E720 in Use

The E720 is a doddle to use - you don't really need a manual ! Navigation is easy with the central navigation key and it allows easy access to the main features.

Main features include - Call records - Phonebook - Applications - File manager - Messages - Browser - Calendar - Camera & Settings. From each of these you access the sub-menu system.

There are short-cut keys too, for instance - from the main menu you can just push the central key upwards and it takes you straight to the MP3 player - By pressing downwards, takes you straight to the bluetooth options etc.

Verdict

Pro's

+ Brimming with features
+ Good sized keys & well spaced.
+ Very Easy to use
+ Fantastic camera
+ Stylish

Cons

- No FM radio
- No memory card slot
- Styling is quite formal

Our thoughts

An all round winner really ! It has the advantage over the D500 in as much that the display, although slightly smaller, will not get scratched due to the clamshell design. With MP3, bluetooth and a large memory, you really can't go far wrong can you ?

Our Ratings

Aesthetics - 7/10
Usability -9/10
Value for Money -9/10
Desirability -8/10

Overall -8/10 - A great pocket phone that will turn heads everytime.
