The Samsung M110 Solid looks set to be in direct competition with the Sonim JCB Toughphone. Samsung are billing it as "Tough as Nails" - thanks to a rubber casing and the IP 54 certification.
This is Samsung's first attempt at a mobile phone fit for field work forces so there are no precedents, where as Sonim have already had experience in this arena.
Size wise the Solid is slightly more compact and light weight then the Toughphone but that doesn't say that it's more robust.
The Samsung M110 is only dual-band so if your looking for tri-band capabilities you'd be better off going for the JCB Toughphone.
Where the Samsung M110 does fair better then Sonim's offering is in the features department, it comes equipped with FM radio, a 0.3 megapixel camera plus bluetooth headset support, but whether these features are required in this genre of handset remains to be seen.
The biggest advantage of the Samsung M110 Solid is the superb power management boasting up to 8 hours of talktime and up to 400 hours on standby. Supported Networks
